Matamua Books is a publisher of personalised children's books, funded in April 2019. Our dream is to live in a more welcoming, inclusive society and we are working hard – in our own small way – to make this dream come true.
All children deserve stories that teach them not only about how they are unique, but also about what connects them to all other humans. The personalized touches in the book are extremely important as they make it easier for readers to identify with the characters and to be receptive to the message. Seeing your personal story reconstructed shows how any form of diversity is simply a variation of the same story. To discover that we have more in common with other people than the differences between us helps to bring us closer together and develop feelings of empathy and of shared experience.
We see our books as platforms for dialogue which can help open minds and broaden horizons. Our stories tackle sensitive issues that affect many people but which aren’t always openly discussed. Moreover, they have all been written with the expert guidance of teachers, psychologists and experts. For this reason, our stories can be used in schools and some of them are also ideal as a therapy book.
Our team hail from three different cities in Italy and Spain, we speak different languages and our stories are for children around the world. Matamua Books sees neither physical nor mental barriers and we hope adults of the future will feel the same.
